About Us and Our Program

Adapted Yoga- Sit, Stand or Wheel TM is a speciality form of yoga that has been adapted from traditional floor based yoga, to allow people of all abilities to participate by sitting in a chair, standing using a chair for support or sitting in a wheelchair or scooter. It is so much more than Chair Yoga!

"Yoga is more than simple exercise. It may include postures (asanas), energy and breath control (pranayama), meditation, music, philosophy and other approaches. While many people equate the word Hatha with a particular style of yoga, the word actually refers to the physical aspect of yoga – to the asana and pranayama practices. Our program is designed by Marnie Courage, an occupational therapist who works in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and owns Enabling Access, a company that focuses on ergonomics and injury prevention in the workplace, as well as assisting individuals with disabilities to be as healthy and independent as possible. The video is lead by Adrianna Szarek, a Winnipeg based Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Regan Block, Tammy Breland and Lily Conway are the three participants in the video who live with spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and arthritis, respectively.
Finally, people who have limited mobility from injury, illness or aging are able to experience the wonderful physical and mental health benefits that traditional yoga offers, without having to get on or off the floor. See what you can gain from our Adapted Yoga  Sit, Stand or Wheel TM Video!
